Amalgamating Content

In July, I made a post about Seperating Content where I was splitting my content to other sites.

Well, this hasn’t worked and I feel like that I am putting more pressure on myself to write posts and it’s taking away the goal of what I was trying to achieve.

So I am making a change to the way my content is published.

From here on in, and are going to redirect to their respective categories and content will be duplicated over to here.

Also, I am considering bringing over my content to either here or as either a couple of pages or something else.

I know I do a lot of flip-flopping because I don’t even know myself what I want, but I feel that this is close to what I want.

I will take my time with it though to get it right.

Going back to old!

Well, look at this fine specimen of a website.

This was the theme that I was using for my old site back in 2008 –

I missed the old simple theme. No gimmicks, no clutter…nothing. Just simple blogging.

I looked at other ‘blogging themes’ but nothing is taking my interest. If you have a blogging theme, let me know which one you are using and I will have a look at it! 🙂

It’s all about me!

First and foremost, the blog post relating to my trip to NYC will be available in drips and drabs over the next week or two!

Before I left for NYC, I decided to make a big decision on the future of my gaming community Enigma (Formerly Nologam) and that was to shut it down.

I have attempting to build a gaming community over the last 9 years and to this day, I have not been successful. After staying up for multiple nights and working on it, I felt that me continuing something that I didn’t have a passion for was….a waste on my physical and mental health.

So I decided to stop. Then today, I decided to look at what sites I was running and make some changes which is manageable and don’t require an absurd amount of time to maintain. will be staying as my main blog and there is no plans to change that! is going to get a rebrand and will become – More news on that over on in the coming days/weeks.

As Enigma/Nologam has now been closed down, I have set up my own Discord server so people can keep in touch with me. If you wish to join, go to

I may create something new in the future, but for now:

Switching from Ghost back to WordPress

It was not even 2 weeks ago that I blogged about how much I love Ghost and that it is a great alternative to WordPress

And yes, I do love it. But I do miss the customisation that I had with WordPress.
Plugins, and ever expanding plugin & theme system is something that I miss with WP.

If Ghost had a easy plugin / theme system, then I would probably stay with them.

While I have had my share of issues with Ghost recently, it is not the sole reason for changing.

I (unlike some people) like change from time to time and I have always had a soft spot for WordPress (Given that I look at it every day).

When it comes to posts, the editor in WP is second to none. It’s just fantastic. Post types also help.

Expect this to be changed over in the next few days 🙂

site Uncategorized update

pf v0.3

At last, I have finally bothered my ass to update this website once again.

I have changed the theme from Uno Zen to Crush as it is a lot more simplier than what Uno Zen was offering.

One nice little addition was the Unsplash images. Everytime you reload the main page, a new Unsplash image from the ‘Technology’ category loaded.

To do this, I simply done this with the index.hbs theme was:

On Line 5 change:

<header class="main-header {{#if @blog.cover}}" style="background-image: url({{@blog.cover}}){{else}}no-cover{{/if}}">

<header class="main-header {{#if @blog.cover}}" style="background-image: url({{else}}no-cover{{/if}}">

So that is something I suppose 🙂

site Uncategorized update v0.2

This update is just to make the site A) Secure and B) Look better in the URL.

  1. I have fixed the issue with the URL coming back as where the 2368 was the port that Ghost use. A simple change in the config.js resolves that.

  2. Let’s Encrypt SSL has been installed. Bit of a tricky one to get this working. I had to change the Proxy port for Nginx from 2368 to 80. Disable Ghost, restart nginx, run Let’s Encrypt to install the cert, change the config back and then start Ghost.

I might do a proper tutorial for that where time permits. If you would like me to get it done sooner, poke me on Twitter and I’ll do it. Twitter

No other updates are planned for the site as it is ok the way it is. Might change up the theme or something in the next version but we shall see 🙂

awesome community friends nologam site Uncategorized

I love my community!

Would you believe it, but Nologam is nearly a year old already. It has grown up so fast, that I have actually lost track of what’s happening and that is…sorta bad.

In all my time of running a community site like Gamers and Geeks, I have never had this much activity. In nearly 12 months, we have got about 80+ members…not one of them are spam bots…they are genuine people who have signed up to a community and made it what it is today.

In May, I took on a couple of people who were willing to help me with the running of the site, generate some ideas on how to improve the site and even gain new members. It has been the best decision that I have made and it was worth it. They have put in a lot of effort with the site and I greatly appreciate it. It’s so great to have someone, at least one person, to help with something as big as a community.

Now, I am meeting new people everyday and they are willing to help me with improvements, from a server refresh to re-branding Nologam just makes me want to cry in happiness.

I had lost track of what happened with my community when I left for London last Monday when I didn’t have access to a computer for most of the week and then getting sick when I came back, but the community still went on without me and it felt awesome that I didn’t have to be there to keep the site going.

Back when I was trying to get Gamers and Geeks off the ground…I would spend hours on end trying to get genuine members on the site, but it never worked…with Nologam, it has.

So, here is a tip from me in order to get a community going: Get a friend, get talking and make awesome. A community is not just about YOU. It’s about everyone around you also.
