    Gaming News – 23rd October 2024

    • Monster Hunter Wilds open beta is scheduled to start on Tuesday 29th October at 3am for Playstation Plus subscribers with non-subscribers, Xbox and Steam users being able to play from November 1st until November 4th.
    • Minecraft has launched on PS5 with Hardcore mode and ‘inventory bundles’ – PS4 digital players can obtain it for free via the store. People who have the physical copy for PS4 just need to insert the disk to get it.
    • Nintendo is launching “Game Trials” for the Nintendo Switch, it allows Nintendo Switch Online users to play 3 games per week. Cursed to Golf, A Little to the Left and Minecraft Dungeons will launch from today and are available until the 30th. Users in the US though will get Vampire Survivors instead of Minecraft Dungeons. If they wish to continue playing those games, there will be a discount available for those games.
    • NCSoft (Lineage, Guild Wars 2, Wildstar, Throne and Liberty (in Thailand)) has reportedly laid off staff after their CEO stated that the company has been “deteriorating financially”. They signed a deal with Sony last year to create a Horizon MMORPG.
    • The team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is currently being disbanded at Ubisoft as all the free content and one piece of DLC has launched. They will finish up by releasing the game on Mac this winter. The team are going to be working on other projects. A dozen of the developers are working on a Rayman remake in Ubisoft Milan.
    • Vampire Survivors is getting a Castlevania themed DLC on October 31st titled Ode to Castlevania – It will be available on all platform that the base game is available for €3.99.
    • Remember The Day Before? The game that lasted 4 days on Steam after players found that the game was a scam and was an asset flip? Well, the studio Fantastic launched a Kickstarter on September 26th for a new upcoming game calledEscape Factory. They were hoping to raise S$20K for the project. The Kickstarter was ended earlier today as the project didn’t “generate enough interest”.
    • But wait, there is more! In the same announcement that Fantastic stopped their Kickstarter for Escape Factory, they have started development for an entirely new game titled: Items which is an ‘action-horror prop hunt’ game. But the company has already released (and delisted) an ‘action-horror prop hunt’ game that was released in 2021, Propnight
    • The Fallout: London mod has hit 1 million downloads.

    • Sarah is in the DR – Says that Nathan is not up for eviction because of him, but because of Izaaz.
    • Nathan and Emma talking about Nathan’s potential last week in the house.
    • Martha is checking on Ali – Saying that Dean had stronger opinions about pairing Izaaz and Khaled together.
    • Emma and Nathan thinks that Khaled is in the right. Dean and Martha thinks that Ali is in the right.
    • Ali is in the DR – Thinks that Dean’s choice for swapping Lily and Hanah for Marcello and Izaaz wasn’t thought out and that she get the worst outcome from everyone.
    • Hanah and Segun talking about Ali and Dean. Hanah believes that she was only paired with Lily so that Hanah is a scapegoat for evictions.
    • Nathan in the DR – He sort of knows who nominated him. Thinks Martha is 2-faced and nominated him. Thinks Ali is also 2-faced.
    • Izaaz apologies to Marcello for past interactions
    • Some of them are doing the “Gimme my money trend”
    • Thomas in the DR – Food situation is bleak. There are 9 cabbages.
    • Emma is prepping some chickens for dinner.
    • Nathan thinks there are 2 game players: Lily and Ali. He thinks Ali’s is putting it on for the cameras.
    • BB gathered everyone on the sofa to reveal that there were multiple rule breaks. At least 4 instances regarding nominations. Hanah back chatted to BB. Segun said: “We need to get rid of the wolf. The red witch is coming”
    • The whole house has been punished. They will be living on porridge and porridge alone until further notice. Sarah and BP were to take all food away.
    • “You bloody big mouth bastards” ~ Baked Potato to the rest of the house.
    • Some housemates are having Porridge.
    • Khaled and Segun are in the hot-tub.
    • Hanah believes that she and her group is being ‘attacked’ because 2 people of her group are up for nominations.
    • Sarah is in the DR – Sarah has a bag of sugar left over when it should have been in the storeroom.
    • Dean in the DR – There are groups and the Hanah/Segun/Khaled gang don’t care about the rule breaks. But they will call out others for the rule breaks.
    • Ali and Dean are talking about what has happened.
    • Lily in the DR – Didn’t think that Segun would say the things behind Lily and Ali’s back. Lily must learn to like porridge.
    • Dean is on the bed crying, clutching the picture of him and his partner.
    • Hanah in the DR – Can’t handle porridge. Will starve if she can’t add honey or other toppings. BB says that the porridge is perfectly edible. Hanah walks out of the DR.
    • Segun and Ali are having a chat about today. He said it that it was a joke. She didn’t find it funny.
    • Dean and Hanah are talking in the bathroom about the drams that has unfolded. She believes that Ali has started a gender war to get the boys (Khaled and Marcello) out.
    • There is a cooked chicken in the oven. Marcello giving out about people talking about the chicken being in the oven. Marcello took a piece of the chicken on a fork. Big Brother’s camera tracking his moves. Izaaz is taking the chicken to the DR and Marcello takes another bite on the way.
    • Marcello is angry that his secret chicken mission and called most people in the room a “fucking numpty”
    • Marcello called Sarah a vegetarian (when she is a vegan) and that her pH levels were all over the place.
    • Emma is in the DR – A majority of people are at loggerheads with each other today.

    • It’s Martha’s birthday. Sarah made a cake.
    • Marcello in the DR – Commenting on Dean and Ali being the Head of House. Talking to Ali is stressful. Not his type of person.
    • Nominations time.
    • The nominations are in pairs.
    • Big Brother reveals the pairings from yesterday.
    • They can only discuss nominations as a pair in the diary room. They cannot discuss previous nominations.
    • Ali & Dean (who are immune) are in the DR to make their nominations: Khaled & Marcello
    • Marcello & Khaled in the DR to make nominations: Nathan & Izaaz
    • Sarah & Baked Potato in the DR to make nominations: Hanah & Lily

    • Head of House Ali & Dean in the DR – They have 1 more task that they need to make. They have to go back to the secret basement.
    • They must choose either “Save and Replace” and “Killer Nomination” – They can change pairs.
    • BB shows the nominations. Hanah/Lily & Nathan/Izaaz are up for eviction.
    • Ali & Dean stood up. Ali is not taking this well. They chose to “Save & Replace” a pair.
    • They chose to save Lily & Hanah and replaced them with Khaled & Marcello.
    • Izaaz, Khaled, Marcello and Nathan are up for eviction. They would be up for nomination individually.
    • Lily cheering for herself in the toilet.
    • Khaled and Marcello discussing to Segun about the nomination.
    • Khaled talking to Ali about the killer nomination decision that it was a difficult decision. I’m sorry for singling you out as a fake person here.
    • Ali admits to the rule break, talking about nominations. Ali believes that Khaled was like “Haha, this is what it feels like” and jumped on Ali for making the same decision that he had to make last week and that Khaled is playing it up for the camera. She doesn’t want Khaled ridiculing her for making the same decision that he had to last week.
    • Nathan and BP are upstairs kissing.
    • Martha is in the DR – She has been given a slice of cake, Wispa Gold and drink to celebrate her birthday.
    • Emma talking to Khaled about Ali. Emma thinks that Ali is being a bitch
    • Ali doing the “Villain Strut” according to her. Believes that everyone is talking about Ali’s decision being weighed more than Dean’s, even though Dean had stronger opinions about Ali
    • Ali & Nathan breaking the rules about nominations.
    • Another instance of Nathan and Ali breaking the rules about nominations whenever they went back into the house and saw the screen.

    Day 13

    • Back to Friday night, and it’s eviction night. Ali, Daze, Lily and Martha are up for eviction.
    • Lily is screaming and everyone is egging her on to scream louder.
    • Daze is evicted.
    • A lot of people are going to miss Daze. Segun seems appears to be upset about the eviction.
    • Emma and Nathan are commenting about Lily’s screaming.
    • Nathan and Baked Potato. Nathan is head over heels about BP.
    • Emma in the DR – She hoped that Lily would have evicted. She believes that Lily is self-aware about her screaming, but doesn’t care.
    • Martha in the DR – “She feels super slay”, “It gives <buzzwords>” [I can’t deal with the “It gives X” shtick]
    • Emma, Ali and Sarah are talking about Lily’s screaming.
    • Nathan and BP hug in the bathroom. They kiss!!

    Day 14

    • It’s Saturday.
    • Nathan has a banana.
    • Lily is picking an outfit. “…in her cave” ~Dean
    • Head of House Khaled reign is officially house.
    • The next “Head of House” will be decided this week.
    • There is a gallery with glass portraits with the housemates on it. Khaled must go in and smash a portrait. He smashes Lily’s.
    • Ali is not happy with the comments that Marcello is making about ejaculation.
    • Segun is next. He smashes Izaaz’s. Martha smashes Baked Potato’s portrait.
    • Emma smashes Khaled. Thomas smashes Sarah. Izaaz smashes Nathan.
    • Ali smashes Marcello. Hanah smashes Martha. Lily smashes Emma.
    • Baked Potato smashes Segun. Dean smashes Hanah. Nathan chooses Thomas.
    • Dean’s and Ali’s frame is left. Dean and Ali are Heads of House and are immune from the eviction.
    • Ali and Marcello are talking about the conversation and that he shouldn’t have mentioned ejaculation in a group setting. She is angry that it wasn’t appropriate, and Marcello’s response is that Ali shouldn’t say anything about their conversation that she wasn’t involved in.
    • Heads of House Ali and Dean are in the DR. They must make their way to the secret basement.
    • BP and Nathan are talking about going on a holiday once they get out.
    • Ali and Dean are in the secret basement.
    • Housemates will nominate in pairs. Housemates will nominate other pairs for eviction.
    • Ali and Dean choose the pairs:
    • Group 1: Hanah and Lily
    • Group 2: Marcello and Khaled
    • Group 3: Izaaz and Nathan
    • Group 4: Martha and Segun

    • Ali in the DR – Surprised that no one smashed per portrait earlier. Mentions the altercation with Marcello. Says that Baked Potato is handling her relationship with Nathan badly and is trying to keep thing quiet but sweet.

    And here I am… 33 now.

    While I have don’t have any major goals or plans for this year, it’s fun to have some “it’ll be cool if it happened, but I won’t be disappointed if it didn’t”

    I am having a more relaxed birthday this year.
    Last year, I was in London for the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival. I had an amazing time and met some cool people, including a friend who I have not met in the 12 years of knowing each other.

    Today, I am planning to have lunch with my mother in a restaurant and discuss something that we are planning together. A holiday!

    My mother is an Irish mammy as they come. She has been outside of Ireland to go to Spain a handful of times (Ibiza and Tenerife mainly)
    The last time, that I was on one of those holidays was to Ibiza, and that was in 2008!

    It wouldn’t be until 2016/17 that my mother and father went on another holiday, and that was with my half-brother and sister. I didn’t go on that trip.

    Since my father’s death and the pandemic, I have moved back home to be with my mother. We initially spoke about a weekend trip to mainland Europe (either Amsterdam or Germany) but those plans fell through.

    We never really spoke about going on a holiday since it fell through… Until last week, my mother was watching This Morning. They had Jeff Brazier in New York City, highlighting the city and some of its landmarks.

    My mother started talking about it more and more. After a couple of days, I blurted out: “How about we go to New York, then?”
    She hasn’t stopped smiling. She is really looking forward to going. We’re planning to go in February so we have time to plan things out and more importantly, get our passports renewed.

    This wouldn’t be my first time in NYC. I was there with a friend in 2018, and while I enjoyed my time then, there is much more I wanted to see and do, and now I have a perfect chance to do it this time with my mother.

    We are adamant on actually committing to this. Once we have 1 element of the holiday booked (Flights and/or hotel), then we are committed.

    And this is the start. I have already said to her, that we should do weekend trips to European cities a thing, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

    Other than that, I would like to lose some weight. I have been a big guy since the pandemic. I am not looking to get a 6-pack or anything, but just lose some of the weight. If I can drop a size or two in trousers while I am at it, that would be cool.

    What about online stuff?

    With the changes that are happening, I am no longer going to be using Twitter. I am not a fan of the changes that Elon has made in the last few weeks regarding the AI and the “blocking”.

    As you all know, I am on the Fediverse (mainly on Mastodon.ie) where I have been since November 2022 and that will continue to be my main place to go to for posting.

    Bluesky has received a surge in users after Twitter was blocked in Brazil and another surge this week regarding the aforementioned AI and blocking changes that were made.

    I have taken a step back on doing projects as I feel I was stressing myself out. So I am cutting down on the amount of websites that I am running, and I am looking to improve the ones that I have and make the existing ones a bit more lively. This would apply to padraig.blog, pf.ie and 39.ie, especially the last one!

    To the shock of no one, I am still playing Final Fantasy XIV, and I will probably be continuing to play it for another year. During some downtime of the game, I have been dabbling in other games, including but not limited to:

    • Baked Potato goes straight over to Nathan’s bed to have a chat.
    • Nathan is in the DR – He is speechless. He really likes Baked Potato. Besides politics, they get on very well.
    • Marcello, Segun and Dean are in the kitchen cleaning up.
    • Baked Potato in the DR – Baked Potato is giddy about this ‘relationship’ with Nathan.
    • Emma is making her mark in the smoking area. Inside the smoking room is back walls and doors. She is writing on the door with her nail.
    • Daze in the DR talking about her potential last full day in the Big Brother house.
    • BP and Nathan are in the upstairs talking. They are OK that their relationship is out in the open. Everything is chill!
    • Nathan stands up to wipe his arse.
    • Izaaz is talking with Marcello about what happened yesterday.
    • Lily is in the DR, talking about her potential last full day in the house.
    • Ali is in the DR – Ali thinks that people’s true self is coming out. She doesn’t want to go home now.
    • “It’s giving rule break” – Martha has written her name on the doors and walls of the smoking room. This breaks rule 12 of the house rules where messages cannot be written or communicated.
    • BB: “Half of the luxury budget has been removed. All tea and coffee gone. All biscuits banned. All sweets seized. All 140 packets of crisps has been confiscated. Fizzy drinks? Forget about it.”
    • Marcello ‘attempts’ a double flip
    • Martha in the DR after writing her name in the smoking room. Other housemates (Emma) have also written on the walls and doors.
    • Martha feels that she is on borrowed time.
    • Will (Presenter): “The spirit of Nasty Nick lives on”
    • Today’s task. The housemates are wearing letters. First question. Line up with their front letters in alphabetical order.
    • Dean in the DR showing his O face. Dean cannot spell coffee.
    • The klaxon goes off, and they line up to spell “Bagel”
    • Marcello in the DR – “Nathan stole my girl” – Considers Nathan and BP a power-couple. Marcello admits to being over-flirtatious with BP. BB: “Is Marcello after any new potatoes?” Marcello liked Emma.
    • Lily has been called to the DR – “P is for what, Lily?” – She blurts Pussy. BB asks question some questions that the answers are all “P” which is a letter that she is wearing.
    • She got 6 out of 7 questions correctly.
    • Shopping is available in the storeroom.
    • They have 3 minutes to spell out words to describe Marcello.
    • Housemates passed their task for today. They have earned a disco. Lily is screaming.
    • Ali doesn’t like “Sarah”. She doesn’t have a connection with her.
    • Lily is screaming continuously. Sarah, Hanah, Emma is not liking the screaming.
    • Hanah goes into the bedroom and asks people to flush the toilet.
    • Hanah in the DR – She is disgusted by someone not cleaning up after themselves in the toilet.
    • The housemates are dressing up for the disco.
    • Ali has got close to Martha, Lily, Daze in recent days.
    • BP is in the bathroom. She is pissed off with Lily highlighting Nathan and BP’s ‘relationship’
    • VOTING IS NOW CLOSED.
    • They are having their disco.
    • Lily is praising Hanah.
    • Lily is sucking toes.
    • Hanah is in the DR talking about the people who are up for eviction. She doesn’t want Martha or Daze to go.
    • Will & AJ talking to the house.
    • The viewers have spoken and the 2nd housemate to be evicted is: Daze.
