  • I love my community!

Would you believe it, but Nologam is nearly a year old already. It has grown up so fast, that I have actually lost track of what’s happening and that is…sorta bad.

In all my time of running a community site like Gamers and Geeks, I have never had this much activity. In nearly 12 months, we have got about 80+ members…not one of them are spam bots…they are genuine people who have signed up to a community and made it what it is today.

In May, I took on a couple of people who were willing to help me with the running of the site, generate some ideas on how to improve the site and even gain new members. It has been the best decision that I have made and it was worth it. They have put in a lot of effort with the site and I greatly appreciate it. It’s so great to have someone, at least one person, to help with something as big as a community.

Now, I am meeting new people everyday and they are willing to help me with improvements, from a server refresh to re-branding Nologam just makes me want to cry in happiness.

I had lost track of what happened with my community when I left for London last Monday when I didn’t have access to a computer for most of the week and then getting sick when I came back, but the community still went on without me and it felt awesome that I didn’t have to be there to keep the site going.

Back when I was trying to get Gamers and Geeks off the ground…I would spend hours on end trying to get genuine members on the site, but it never worked…with Nologam, it has.

So, here is a tip from me in order to get a community going: Get a friend, get talking and make awesome. A community is not just about YOU. It’s about everyone around you also.

  • New Emails!

Over the past couple of ideas, I have noticed that I get a lot of emails in my inbox and it can hard to filter through the newsletters, mailing list and “<x> went live on Twitch” emails” to get my emails, so I have done a couple of changes.

All my personal stuff (Social Media, sites-that-don’t-fit-into-the-other-categories, general emails) is now padraig@padraigfahy.com
All my gaming related stuff (Game accounts, gaming websites, gaming forums etc) will all go to gaming@padraigfahy.com
All my technology related stuff (Mailing lists for Ubuntu, Valve (Servers) and GitHub/GitLab) will all get moved to tech@padraigfahy.com

Yes, that means that I will have to look at more inboxes on a daily basis and I don’t mind that at all. This is just to help “de-clutter my inbox” which I personally everyone should do every so often.
This is the first time that I have properly sorted my inbox in since my Gmail account was opened in 2009! That is a lot of emails!

  • Custom wipEout HD Playlist [Spotify List]

So I have started creating a playlist of custom songs for wipEout HD. Fast pop/dance songs seems to work best for it of course.

I only went through a couple of playlist (Starred and some big playlist that I followed a while back) but I will be adding to it every so often.

If you think there should be a song on this list, let me know!

  • Thoughts

Just having some random thoughts as I am going to Dublin.

So, it’s about a month and a bit before I go away to London. I am very excited. I literally can’t wait. Fan fest and my birthday can’t come soon enough.

Grandad has been in hospital for about 5 weeks from tomorrow. It is very difficult to talk about it. I just want him to get better sooner rather than later.

Secrets and lies. Why try and hide them. It’s going to bite you in the ass someday. You can tell me lies all you want but I can still see right through them and no matter how much you tell me that you are not lying, the bigger liar you are.

Traffic on the M1 isn’t too bad. Not too busy for a Sunday afternoon. I wonder what it is like at rush hour in a Monday.

Got my 10th Atma last night in Final Fantasy XIV. Only 2 more to get. Want to get them ASAP. Still have to get i100 boots from Syrcus Tower. Oh, did you know I did a guide for Syrcus Tower. It’s over at Padraig.XYZ

I think that’ll do for now. Follow my antics on Twitter @FahyIE

  • Update on me!

I posted this late last night on Facebook and I thought I would post it here for all to see!!

Work. I am now a Intern at PetShopOnline.ie doing Marketing and eCommerce work. There is a lot to learn, but I am picking it up pretty quickly. I am glad to be finally working after not having a job or a internship for 10 months.

Family. I really want to talk about my family here,, but I just can’t find the words that would fully express how I am feeling. Let’s just put it this way. I am keeping my head up at all times and trying to not think of the negatives and take everything a day at a time.

Personal Health: Ever since I started working at PSO, I have lost weight from walking to and from work. I have got slimmer and now I am eating less and in some cases…eating healthier. Only a handful close, close friends know about my condition that I have had since I was a child and I just want to say that…it is getting better…and I will leave it at that.

    Now onto fun stuff!

Gaming. If you don’t know, I am a massive fan and player of Final Fantasy XIV. Love playing on a daily basis, but I wish I had more hours in the day to play it.

Euro Truck 2 Multiplayer is loads of fun (Until the troll rammers get you) and I would normally play that at the weekends to relax

Nologam. My little community that I started up in January and relaunched in March has recently got over 40 members which I am very happy about and we even now have a League of Legends team! I try to do as much as I can with the community in my spare time. i am really happy about that, because that is something that makes me happy on a daily basis.

So, have I got anything planned? Just a trip to London for a week to go to the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in London (Which just happens to be on the same week as my birthday), and I am getting the tickets in a few hours of this post going live. It would be the first time that I would be going to London and going outside Ireland since Ibiza in 2008.

EDIT: I got my VIP ticket for the event. Apparently the VIP tickets sold out in less than 10 seconds.

Sorry for the long winded post, but that is pretty much everything that is happening with me and my life right now.
