  • WWE Payback PPV 2017 Predictions

    Last Year’s Predictions

Welcome back to the 2017 Predictions for the WWE PPV: Payback.
Off the back of Wrestlemania 33, we have our ‘rubber band PPV’.

    (c) – Current Champion
    Bold – WINNER

    (5/8) Predictions were correct

    Non-Title Matches

    • Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman – PREDICTION: This fued has gone on for too long an needs to end at this PPV. WWE clearly has no idea what to do with Braun. He needs to fued with Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship. Neither man NEEDS this win, but WWE wants to put Roman over…So Roman to win!
    • Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe – PREDICTION: This is only a thing because of the whole Triple H fued and now Seth is going against his goons and the first one appears to be Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe to win!
    • Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt in a “House of Horrors” match – PREDICTION: Why is this not for the title?!?! Anyway, this is just a wrap up of this fued as both superstars are on seperate brands (Randy is on SmackDown Live and Bray is on RAW) and it would make Randy look weak if he was to lose this match. Should be a key match. Randy to win
    • Enzo & Big Cass vs Gallows & Anderson (Kick off) – PREDICTION: “Well, what have we got over here…A couple of Nerrrrdsssss!” – This is a non-existant fued that started on Monday when G&A attacked Enzo. Enzo & Cass to win

    Title Matches

    • Neville (c) vs Austin Aries for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship – PREDICTION: Neville is ON FIRE lately and his fued with Ausin Aries has proven it. They had a great match at Wrestlemania so this should equally be a good fight. Although, I do not think “A Double” is ready for the purple belt. Neville to retain
    • Bayley (c) vs Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women’s Championship – PREDICTION: Alexa, the “5ft of fury” has just switched from SDLive to RAW and is now straight into a RAW Women’s Championship match against Bayley. Should be a good match. Alexa to win
    • Kevin Owens (c) vs Chris Jericho for the United States Championship – PREDICTION: This is a predictable match as Y2J is about to leave for a bit to do a tour with his band Fozzy, so here is what is going to happen. Kevin Owens retains and Y2J will remain on RAW with a re-debut before Summerslam or maybe afterwards. Well…Wasn’t I wrong…
    • The Hardy Boyz (c) vs Seamus & Cesaro for the RAW Tag Team Championship – PREDICTION: Hardyz are back and better than ever. The #BROKEN gimmick is going to be a big thing going forward (Unless WWE decides to fuck up (which they will)) but this should be a very good match will come down to the wire. Hardy Boyz to retain

While it is not a big PPV, it ain’t a small one too and should provide some shocks if titles did change hands outside of what I have predicted.

I’m a little bit bummed that Randy v Bray is NOT a title match…This would have been a brilliant title match, but WWE doesn’t seem to know how to book a good (read: important) match!

I’ll be in Taima on Sunday night at taima.tv/r/sc from about 10pm so join me there.
And I’ll see you in about 2 weeks for Backlash PPV Predictions 🙂

  • WWE Wrestlemania 33 Predictions! [UPDATED / Spoilers within]

Welcome everyone to my predictions of Wrestlemania 33, dubbed “The Ultimate Thrill Ride”.

This Wrestlemania should be a lot more interesting than last year’s Mania as that was a disaster (Especially that Roman vs HHH match. If you want to read my predictions for last year’s Wrestlemania, click here! ( Part 1 | Part 2 )

Just as a note, all but ONE title is on the line. The SmackDown Tag Team Championship is not on the line at Wrestlemania. I feel bad for The Usos who just became Tag Champs not getting a Wrestlemania match. It sounds like that The Usos are going to be in the AtGMBR. Disappointing.

    And here we go:

    TL;DR (Currently 9/13)
Seth Rollins, Undertaker, Miz & Maryse, AJ Styles, Braun Strowman, Neville, Kevin Owens, Enzo & Cass, Bayley, Brock Lesnar, Dean Ambrose, Naomi, Randy Orton to win all their matches.

    (C) = Current Champion | BOLD = WINNER

    Non-Title Matches

    RAW

    • Seth Rollins vs Triple H in a Unsanctioned Match

PREDICTION: Well, we could have seen this match come from a mile away. This has been in the making since November of 2015, but now has got to the point where this is now a “Dream Match” and should be a very good one.

    Seth Rollins to win

    • The Undertaker vs Roman Reigns

PREDICTION: Are you booing yet? No? Well you should. Simply put, to get Roman over with the crowd, WWE needs to either turn on Taker or simply win. WWE will see this as a good thing but everyone will hate it.
But at the same time, if Roman DOES win, It will mean the 2 in 23-2 in the Undertaker’s streak…Not that it really matters anymore.

Undertaker to win but with a mad outlash from Reigns afterwards.

    SMACKDOWN LIVE

    • John Cena & Nikki Bella vs The Miz & Maryse

PREDICTION: The promos for this fued has been fantasic and I cannot wait for this match. Miz is a really good heel right now and John Cena can match that pretty damn well.

This will also see Maryse actually compete since 2011! Good to see her back in the ring. I would like to see her back for good and fill up the SmackDown Women’s Division after mania and perhaps go after the title! The Miz & Maryse to win.

    • Shane McMahon vs AJ Styles

PREDICTION: We know that AJ is going to whoop Shane’s ass. While Shane was very good in the ring last year with The Undertaker, I am not sure if he is ready to take on a person like AJ. He should have chosen a slower opponent…like James Ellsworth 😛

AJ Styles to win, but I would be surprised if Shane does go over which will look bad for AJ.

    Title Matches

    • Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal (Kickoff Show)

PREDICTON: We only know of a few people and I have to agree with some people regarding who is going to win this and that is Braun Strowman. There is no one else that can win this. Good luck to him! WINNER: Mojo Rawley

    • Neville (C) vs Austin Aries for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. (Kickoff show)

PREDICTION: This is a shame…a dire shame. The CW match is on the pre-show of the biggest PPV of the year. This is terrible booking decision by WWE. Just shows how much they care about this.

This is a REALLY good fued that they have going on and with Neville being a heel, it is really really realllly good right now and should be a great match, but very bad booking decision from WWE.

    Neville to retain

    RAW

    • Chris Jericho (C) vs Kevin Owens for the WWE United States Championship

PREDICTION: This should be a good match considering the calibre of both of these guys. I would love to see this match drawn out for a good solid 20 – 25 mins!

    Kevin Owens to become champion

    • Gallows & Anderson (C) vs Enzo & Cass vs Cesaro & Sheamus in a Triple Threat Ladder Match for the WWE RAW Tag Team Championships WINNER: THE FREAKIN HARDY BOYZ OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!

PREDICTION: Gallows and Anderson are really good right now, but considering that this is a ladder match, it makes things unpredictable…but this is a predictions post…soooooooo

Enzo & Cass to win (Extra point if Enzo get the belts himself)

    • Bayley (C) vs Charlotte Flair vs Sasha Banks vs Nia Jax in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship

PREDICTION: Is anyone else ready for another edition of “Hot Potato” with the RAW Womens Championship, because I sure am NOT PUTTING UP WITH IT ANYMORE! Please keep the belt on ONE person for a long time and for that, I want Bayley to retain.

    • Goldberg (C) vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship

PREDICTION: Well this match will last all of 5 mins and if this is the last match on the card, I will be very disappointed…This needs to be put in the middle to not be a predictable mess during the show. While the two of them are very good, I cannot see Goldberg being around for much longer, so I would like to see Brock Lesnar to become the new Universal Champion.

    SmackDown Live

    • Dean Ambrose (C) vs Baron Corbin for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

PREDICTION: After the two of them trying to kill each other multiple times on SmackDown LIVE, this should have been an Extreme Rules or perhaps another “Asylum Match” shudder. This needed a stipulation but it looks like we are not going to get one!

    Dean Ambrose to retain

    • Alexa Bliss (C) vs Natalya vs Becky Lynch vs Carmella vs Mickie James vs Naomi for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship (Kickoff show)

PREDICTION: Well, Naomi returned to SmackDown LIVE this week to enter herself in as she is now back from injury. Good to see her back and filling up this match with more than just the same 3 faces.

Becky Lynch was going to be my prediction, but now that Naomi is back, it is time to get the belt of Alexa. Naomi to become Champ

    • Bray Wyatt (C) vs Randy Orton for the WWE Championship

PREDICTION: This should be a great great great match! I love both of these wrestlers and both are very deserving of the title! Randy though hasn’t had a singles title in nearly 3 years so it would be very nice for him to have a belt back on him.

Bray has the potential to retain and I will be happy for either to retain.
This is a very hard prediction to call, but I have to go with:

    Randy Orton to become champion

And that is the predictions. A few things to note:

    1. I am very dissapointed with WWE’s booking decisions. The SD Womens and Crusierweight matches being on the pre-show is a terrible decision!

These are very high calibre matches and should have not been taking lightly. It is very easy to see the interest that Vince has in the company and who is REALLY running the shows.

I might have a post out by the end of the week for NXT Orlando as that has a couple of good matches (Shinsuke Nakamura vs Bobby Roode for the NXT Championship).

  • My disappointment with GamerCon

Yesterday saw the first ever GamerCon event happen from the Convention Centre in Dublin and oh boy, it was a mess. Not just from a ‘booking’ perspective but from the event itself. It was lackluster!

First of all, let’s address the elephant in the room, the queues and the capacity!
As far as we (the general public) is aware, the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) has the capacity of about 7,000! Yet, GamerCon was expecting over 20,000 people. That is nearly (if not more) than 3 times the capacity of CCD. Could you have not had this in a better location? Like the RDS or Croke Park?

Anyway, the major problem here is the ticket availability and booking.
According to this tweet on February 25th, ALL Saturday tickets were sold out and ONLY Sunday was available.

But yet, I managed to secure a Saturday ticket quick easily on the Monday night before the event! (13th March)

So, what happened in that 2 week period…magically there was capacity for lots of other people or was GamerCon trying to push the boat out? I don’t know who’s decision this was to make the tickets available and it should have been noted with someone at CCD. I bet you a pound to a penny that CCD didn’t know the numbers that GamerCon were expecting!

I arrived at about 9:40am and entered the building at 10:25am or so after the long and unnecessary queueing. I could have explored half of Dublin in the time I was queueing. It was terribly planned out and I don’t think the stewards knew what was going on.
My 1st friend arrived at about 11am and took him a full hour to get to the door where the staff were scanning tickets and he was stopped. “We are at full capacity” said one of the staff members. There was at least 100 – 200 people (if not more) with kids behind him.

At one point, one of the staff members said to another “If they start storming in, let them…we can’t stop them”, which showed how much interest CCD staff had in the event.

It took him another 45 mins before he would get in.

My 2nd friend was a bit behind him and took him ANOTHER 30 mins to get through the door.

My 3rd friend arrived at 1pm and just walked through the front door…no ticket scanned, no security, nothing! Yet, there was people still queuing at the door.

When I actually got in, there was full queues for everything and it was difficult to know where to start. There wasn’t any paper information about what was where or what time was what…You were forced to download their app in order to view this information.

I first queued for the Razer bus. The wait time was anywhere from about 30 – 45 mins but we can safely say there was a massive queue for not a whole lot. You sat along with 7 other people and played either Rocket League, Call of Duty or Street Fighter for a few mins and then you head upstairs in this bus to sit at a station with a Razer Blade Stealth hooked up to monitors, Blackwidow X Chroma keyboard and Deathadder Chroma mice with Battlerite being played.

(THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS EVENT IS HERE)

The new Razer Blackwidow X Chroma keyboard felt nice and Battlerite is a very nice game. I have even picked up Battlerite on Steam and I am about to place an order for the keyboard soon.

After about 10 mins, we were quickly escorted from the bus.

I walked around a bit, but couldn’t get to the stands nor any of the merch stalls because they were in chaos. All of the stalls (especially Gamestop) was nuts. I had to force my way to get to the counter to see anything and items were VERY expensive (Simple black t-shirts with a Horde logo from World of Warcraft costed €18) and figures costed about 10-20% more than what they really should have!

Gamestop was a nightmare. Lots of pushing and shoving (which seemed to be a normal thing at the event (again, I think we are about 13,000 – 15,000 people over the allotted capacity of CCD) and halfway through looking at the stuff, I bailed.

The Creative SoundBlaster X stand had 1v1 CSGO tournaments going on, so I decided to join it for the craic (Another 45 mins for this queue). When I got to the front, I couldn’t play because the last round of that particular tournament was finished and that I would have to wait another 45 mins before the next tournament started…After 45 mins of waiting, I was not going to be awaiting another 45 mins to play…So I said, “I’ll just play for the 4 mins and go” – 2 mins later, the guy said that there were going to start a new tournament right away.

(Why was there a 45 min wait in the first place???) I played one game, won, went to the other side of the booth, played again and lost. “Thanks for playing, here is a badge).

After that, I needed to get some food and drink, so I proceeded up to the first floor where there was, you guessed it…Another queue for the the ‘coffee station’. (I would have accepted if there was a few people queueing, but there was upwards of 30 people queueing)
Another 20 mins of queueing and hey…no food…Only crisps, a ricebar and a coffee. How disappointing. No sandwiches or light finger food.

(Btw, I should point out, you can’t leave the CCD to get food or else you won’t be allowed back in…How stupid).

As my friends and I explored the 1st floor which had the eSports & Console floor (We’ll get back to this), there was a League of Legends tournament and a CSGO tournament. I wasn’t that interested in League of Legends, so I looked around as my friends watched League. Nothing else on the 1st floor besides this and on the 2nd floor was the “Omen by HP” floor. There was an ampitheatere. I wanted to go in and check it ou- “Full Capacity” screamed a staff member.

I was turned away from this thing (I don’t even know what it was) and all the staff would say to me was “Full Capacity”…ok…fine then so.

Back to the first floor and in typical League of Legends style, matches were delayed, so my friend and I decided to look at some of the console stuff.

I couldn’t see any of the screens due to sheer amount of people queuing and blocking the vision. Apparently there was a ‘For Honor’ stand, a ‘Ghost Recon: Wildlands” stand, and Rocket League/Street Fighter V area and the CSGO area (Along with a couple of other uninteresting titles)

At one point, there was this one kid (About 11 or 12 years of age) going around shutting off Xbox’s while people were playing and started to disconnect the Xbox’s from the power. People were lifting PS4 controllers from tables and walking away with them.

Myself and my friends left and proceeded back up to the 2nd floor of the CCD where there was actually HOT FOOD! Whoo hoo! Now, it might have just been either a Chicken Burger or Nachos and Chilli, but it was still hot food and it was very nice for the money (This was provided by CCD and NOT Gamercon staff). Granted, I had to wait 15 mins for this, but was indeed worth it.

After we had the food, we decided to leave. I couldn’t put up with it any longer. My friends agreed and it was just a shambles of an event.
Overbooked, under whelming, staff didn’t care!

It might have been the first year but this should have been planned better and the manager for GamerCon needs to address this properly going into today (Sundays) event and hopefully then can resolve their issue going into their London/Berlin GamerCon’s.
