[The JukeBox] #79 – Masayoshi Soken – Scream

Back on August 23rd, Square Enix released their 2nd tier of the Endwalker 8-man raid and as per usual, the composer Masayoshi Soken released another banger of a tune!

This time, he collaborated with AKINO (Kawamitsu), an American/Japanese solo singer to perform the song Scream

There is also an instrumental version that is used for one of the fights named Silent Scream.

    Lyrics:

    Fell child, bastard and beast
A lost lamb, first to the feast
Go claim if you’re able, a spot at this table

Mild and meek, down on your knees
For hide and seek, it’s time that we feed
Your heart is racing, blood is running cold
Your fractured will is whispering (fly a- fly a-)

    “Fly away,
    Here be lions”

    Say goodnight!
With each bite does your sanity die!
Sucking the life out, letting the dark…

    Inside!
Say a prayer as the light leaves your eyes!
Or scream all you like, your Gods can’t hear you…

    Scream
    Now scream
    Scream

So suicide, don’t choke on your pride~

    Scream
    Now Scream
    Now scream
Yeah, we’re gonna watch you bleed

Incensed, inflamed, how does it feel?
Your pound is paid, those scars will not heal
You’re lost in suffering, drowning in your tears
Won’t someone, somewhere, tell me, where I (where I)…

    Go from here?
    Be the lion

    Say goodnight!
With each bite does your sanity die!
Sucking the life out, letting the dark…

    Inside!
Say a prayer as the light leaves your eyes!
Or scream all you like, the Gods can’t hear you

Dressed in rage, inside my cage
My Pandæmonium, still bound to the flame that I bear
Buried alive, in the coffin of who I used to be!

Oh scream all you like, ’cause we’re all mad here

    Simpering, Tempering
    Whimpering, Wandering

    Simmering, Hungering
    Forever falling into the night
    Deeper, deeper down tonight

    Say goodnight,
To the shadow I’ve left far behind!
I’m just a stranger, we are all strange,

    Inside!
You can run but there’s nowhere to hide
So scream all you like, no one can hear us

    Follow me, come follow me
To Pandæmonium, still bound to the flame that I bear
There’s no release, from this empty, waking wonderland

So scream if you’d like ’cause we’re all mad here
Scream all you’d like ’cause we’re all mad here

  • [The JukeBox] #78 – Coco Star – Toca Miracle

[The JukeBox] #78 – Coco Star – Toca Miracle

I could have sworn that I have already covered Fragma’s – Toca’s Miracle from 2001 but it looks like I didn’t.

While searching, I noticed that there has been a re-release of the song at the start of July 2022 by Coco Star who created the lyrics back in 1996 for ‘I need a miracle’.

The song was released as a track on Fragma’s album Toca in 2001 with the instrumental Toca Me also included on the album.,

The song was released on the Spinnin’ Records label.

    Lyrics:

If you’re gonna save the day
And you’re hearin’ what I say
    I feel your touch
    Your kiss, it’s not enough
And if you believe in me
Don’t think my love’s not for real
I won’t take nothin’ less then a deeper love

Let me tell you, you know
    Aah, I need a miracle
    I need a miracle
    It’s more than physical
What I need to feel from you
Let me tell you, you know
    Aah, I need a miracle
    I need a miracle
    It’s more than physical
What I need to get me through

    Tell me that you understand
And you’ll take me as I am
You’ll always be the one to give me everything
Just when I thought no one cared
You’re the answer to my prayer
    You lift my spirits high
    Come on and rescue me

Let me tell you, you know
    Aah, I need a miracle
    I need a miracle
    It’s more than physical
What I need to feel from you
Let me tell you, you know
    Aah, I need a miracle
    I need a miracle
    It’s more than physical
What I need to get me through

Let me tell you, you know
    Aah, I need a miracle
    I need a miracle
    It’s more than physical
What I need to feel from you
Let me tell you, you know
    Aah, I need a miracle
    I need a miracle
    It’s more than physical

[The JukeBox] #77 – Siedah Garrett vs Eden Prince – Do You Want It Right Now

Back in 1985, Siedah Garrett released her hit song Do You Want it Right Now for the movie Fast Forward.

It was remixed in 2021 by Eden Prince and while modern, it still has what makes the original great. Some remixes can butcher the original or they try too hard to incorporate other genre of music like rapping or heavy metal.

The style of Eden Prince works really well here. I, personally, would love to see more from Eden Prince in the future and what they have to offer.

I want you, oh, I want you so
Do you want it right now? Oh, I can’t let go
I want you so bad, give me all you have
I can show you how, do you want it right now?

I want you, oh, I want you so
Do you want it right now? Oh, I can’t let go
I want you so bad, give me all you have
I can show you how, do you want it right now?

I want you so, I can’t let go
    (Now)
I want you so, I can’t let go
(Do you want it right now?)
I want you so, I can’t let go
    (Now)
    (Right now)

I want you, oh, I want you so
Do you want it right now? Oh, I can’t let go
I want you so bad, give me all you have
I can show you how, do you want it right now?

I want you, oh I want you so

  • [The JukeBox] #76 – CHVRCHES – Warning Call

[The JukeBox] #76 – CHVRCHES – Warning Call

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is a 2016 remake prequal of the original Mirror’s Edge game that released in 2008.

I recently completed the game a month ago and I have always been a fanatic of the atheistic of Faith Connors (the protagonist that you play as) and the atheistic of the city of Glass.

In the main ‘hub’ area where you meet up with Noah at the start of the game, there is a Jukebox. Interacting with it allows you to play music. Cycling through songs eventually brings you to this track.

I knew of CHVRCHES from their other song: The Mother We Share but I never took anytime to look into them. Suffice to say that after The Mother We Share and Warning Call, I will be listening to them more.

    YouTube:

    Lyrics:

    I hear it
Echoing of every place that we’ve called our home
    And I don’t talk
Of any time I ever believed in the unknown
    I need it
So I hold on to every mistake that I made alone
    And I don’t lie
When I say that we will never return to closing doors

Sleep tight in a new light
    Through another warning call
Look down on the cold ground
No one try to break the fall

    I feel it
Moving in an another direction we call our own
    And I won’t chase
Anyone who ever believed in what they stole
    I need it
So I hold on to every piece of mine that I chose
    And I don’t lie
When I say that we will never return to closing doors

Sleep tight in a new light
    Through another warning call
Look down on the cold ground
No one try to break the fall

    Say you’ll remember
    To keep it all inside
You can run for the skyline
    Your eyes open wide

    Say you’ll remember
    To keep it all inside
You can run for the skyline
    Your eyes open wide

    Don’t look away
    (It’s a memory)
Cause when we see it we are closer
    Don’t look away
Cause when we see it we are near

    Say you’ll remember
    To keep it all inside
You can run for the skyline
    Your eyes open wide

    Say you’ll remember
    To keep it all inside
You can run for the skyline
    Your eyes open wide

    It’s a memory, it’s a memory, it’s a memory, it’s a memory
    It’s a memory, it’s a memory, it’s a memory, it’s a memory
    It’s a memory, it’s a memory, it’s a memory, it’s a memory
    It’s a memory, it’s a memory, it’s a memory, it’s a memory

  • [The JukeBox] #75 – Sonique – It Feels So Good (And a Bit of History)

[The JukeBox] #75 – Sonique – It Feels So Good (And a Bit of History)

Back in late 90’s/early 2000’s, Sonique (Sonia Marina Clarke) burst onto the pop and dance scene but with a little bit of help from her friends.

Sonique was born and raised in England. At 17, she put together a reggae band called ‘Fari’ and ended up writing the music for the band. After Fari disbanded, she set about getting her own recording contract.
In 1985, she released her solo single “Let me hold you“. It reached the Top 40 Dance Chart in the UK.

This wouldn’t be our first sighting of Sonique though as she was a member of the dance band S’Express, which you might remember for this song:

After S’Express disbanded , Mark Moore (A producer and DJ for S’Express) and Sonique continued being friends.

Clarke would accompany both Mark Moore and the infamous DJ Judge Jules to their gigs for about 3 years.

She signed with Serious Records and released her first single “I Put a Spell On You”, a cover of the 1956 hit by Jay Hawkins:

It would end up being the ‘B’ track on the single release of It Feels So Good.

She would end working as a In-house DJ for Club Manumission in Ibiza between 1997 and 2001.

Her debut album ‘Hear My Cry’ was released in 1998 but re-released in 2000. With the re-release, ‘It Feels So Good‘, topped the UK chart for 3 weeks in 2000 and became the third best-selling single of 2000 (Beaten by ‘Can We Fix it?’ by Bob The Builder and ‘Pure Shores’ by All Saints)

Sonique would retire as a DJ to focus on her singing career. She would return to the decks after her next album Born to Be Free (released in 2003) was not successful.

Clarke was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2009 but would get the all clear a year later and celebrated by releasing a cover to Cyndi Lauper’s hit Girls Just Want to Have Fun with proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.

Sonique is still releasing music to this day but in collaboration with other DJ’s and producers such as Dario G, Mauro Picotto and Ramiro. Her latest solo album was released in 2011 under the ZYX label titled Sweet Vibrations.

Here is Sonique’s biggest hit, It Feels So Good.

    Lyrics:

    You always make me smile
    When I’m feeling down
You give me such a vibe
    It’s totally bonified, mmh
It’s not the way you walk
And it ain’t the way you talk
It ain’t the job you got
    That keeps me satisfied

Your love, it feels so good
And that’s what takes me high
    Higher than I’ve been before
Your love it keeps me alive
Thought I should let you know
That your touch it means so much
    When I’m alone at night
It’s you I’m always thinking of, ooh-oh, baby

Ooh I want you to understand
How I feel, yeah, deep inside
oh oh, you make me feel
what I need to feel, yes
In my heartYour love, it feels so good
And that’s what takes me high
    Higher than I’ve been before
Your love it keeps me alive
Thought I should let you know
That your touch it means so much
    When I’m alone at night

And that’s what takes me high

  • [The JukeBox] #74 – Ann Lee – 2 Times

    [The JukeBox] #74 – Ann Lee – 2 Times

A simpler time, back in 1999, we had some classic hits like Mysterious Times (#52), Missing (#18) and It feels so good (Coming in )

2 Times by Ann Lee has always been a bop in nightclubs across UK, Ireland and beyond.

The YouTube video has the following about Ann Lee:

Ann Lee is a British Eurodance singer and songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1990s. She is known solely for her 1999 hit single “2 Times”.

Having moved to live in Italy in the late 1980s, Lee was talent-scouted, and was used as the lead singer on a series of Eurodance singles, issued under various aliases. These have included Charme, Anne, Ally & Jo, DJ Space’C, Lolita, A Kay BJ, Alex, Wienna and TH Express.[citation needed] She also released a few Eurobeat solo singles on the Italian label A.Beat-C. under the names Annerley Gordon and Annalise. Gordon is credited with contributing to the composition of “Rhythm of the Night”, released in Italy in December 1993 on the DWA record label, by the Eurodance project Corona.

Her first solo single under the name “Ann Lee” was “2 Times”, originally released in 1998. It was re-released in early 1999 and became a Top 10 hit in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Norway, as well as in Australia and New Zealand. It also hit number 2 in her native United Kingdom, and reached number one in Flanders and Denmark. In Canada it reached number 14 on the singles chart. “2 Times” was featured in the 2001 film Head Over Heels as the movie’s theme song.
