    Late Sunday night edition (because I have been busy and lazy all week.)

    • The plot to the 3rd part of the Final Fantasy VII (7) remake has been completed, and the game has gone into full production.
    • The Game Awards has confirmed that expansion packs, DLC and remakes are eligible for the Game of the Year category “if the jury deems the new creative and technical work to be worthy of a nomination”. The Game Awards air on Friday 13th December at 12:30am GMT.
    • Ratatan, the sequel to the 2007 PSP hit Patapon, has a new trailer with a release date of April 2025, and it comes to PS5/PS4/Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC.
    • The Splinter Cell movie, with Tom Hardy, is reportedly been cancelled as they “couldn’t get it right”
    • In a new documentary celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Half-Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode Three was 6 months into development but was dropped in favour of Left 4 Dead – With the new 20th Anniversary, there have been some game updates too: “Every map in Half-Life 2 has been looked over by Valve level designers to fix longstanding bugs, restore content and features lost to time, and improve the quality of a few things like lightmap resolution and fog”
    • Job roles have appeared online hinting to a Starcraft shooter. The game was revealed in Jason Schreier’s book “Play Nice: The Rise, Fall and Future of Blizzard Entertainment” – Former head of Far Cry at Ubisoft, Dan Hay, is set to be leading the project.
    • Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, Joan in… Joan, Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse) is reportedly set to play Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider TV show.
    • Blizzard has announced and released Warcraft: Remastered, Warcraft II Remastered and Warcraft III Reforged as a Battle Chest which also includes a 2.0 patch for Warcraft III Reforged
    • According to Phil Spencer, there are no rules for which game from Xbox’s library gets released on PS5 or Switch.

    • 9 employees at NetEase (Marvel Rivals, Once Human, Diablo Immortal) have been arrested for alleged bribery and money laundering up to $139 million USD. They have also been fired from the company.
    • It has been revealed that Macaulay Culkin will be in Season 2 of the Fallout TV Show.
    • Amplitude Studios (Endless Space, Endless Legend, Humankind) has been sold by SEGA and are now once again an independent studio..
    • The E3 Demo for Halo 2 has been modded into Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam which looks and feels like the actual demo from 2003. Steam
    • The Pokémon Company & Nintendo are demanding 10 Million Yen (USD$66,000) from Pocketpair (Palworld) for infringing on patents.

    • Nintendo has confirmed that the new Nintendo console (which has not been announced yet) will be backwards compatible with existing Nintendo Switch games.
    • Warcraft II (2) Remastered has been leaked before its (reportedly) announcement during Warcraft’s 30th Anniversary next week.
    • Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed that the poor reception of MultiVersus is one of the major reasons why their games division is “substantially underperforming”
    • Raven from DC Comics and Marceline from Adventure Time are being added to Season 4 of MultiVersus which also includes 2 new stages from Samurai Jack and Adventure Time.
    • Starting in 2025, New subscribers to Nvidia’s game streaming service GeForce Now, will be limited to 100 hours of playtime per month. Existing members will have this limit imposed in 2026.
    • Surprise! Death Stranding is now available on Xbox Series X|S and via Xbox app on PC. For a limited time, it is 50% off (now €20)
    • As part of their Q2 Financial Report, Take-Two has stated that Grand Theft Auto VI is still on track for a Autumn 2025 release.
    • Take-Two has also stated that while the Borderlands movie was ‘disappointing’, it actually had a positive impact on video game sales.
    • Take-Two have also stated that they will spread out the release of Grand Theft Auto VI and Borderlands 4 even though they are slated to come out within a year of each other.
    • It has also been confirmed by Take-Two, that their “Private Division” label has been sold for an undisclosed sum.
    • It was recently confirmed by Konami that the voice actress for Eva in Metal Gear Solid 3 was listed as “Suzetta Minet” This was a pseudonym for Jodi Benson, who voiced Ariel in The Little Mermaid movie. It was suggested to her at the time that her name be changed due to the ‘adult themes’ that were in the game.
    • SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics is being delisted from Steam on the 6th December. If you have already purchased games within SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics, you would still be able to download them.
    • On this N7 Day, it has been revealed that there is a Mass Effect TV show in development from the writer for Fast & Furious 9, Daniel Casey, and Amazon MGM Studios.

    • Monster Hunter Wilds open beta is scheduled to start on Tuesday 29th October at 3am for Playstation Plus subscribers with non-subscribers, Xbox and Steam users being able to play from November 1st until November 4th.
    • Minecraft has launched on PS5 with Hardcore mode and ‘inventory bundles’ – PS4 digital players can obtain it for free via the store. People who have the physical copy for PS4 just need to insert the disk to get it.
    • Nintendo is launching “Game Trials” for the Nintendo Switch, it allows Nintendo Switch Online users to play 3 games per week. Cursed to Golf, A Little to the Left and Minecraft Dungeons will launch from today and are available until the 30th. Users in the US though will get Vampire Survivors instead of Minecraft Dungeons. If they wish to continue playing those games, there will be a discount available for those games.
    • NCSoft (Lineage, Guild Wars 2, Wildstar, Throne and Liberty (in Thailand)) has reportedly laid off staff after their CEO stated that the company has been “deteriorating financially”. They signed a deal with Sony last year to create a Horizon MMORPG.
    • The team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is currently being disbanded at Ubisoft as all the free content and one piece of DLC has launched. They will finish up by releasing the game on Mac this winter. The team are going to be working on other projects. A dozen of the developers are working on a Rayman remake in Ubisoft Milan.
    • Vampire Survivors is getting a Castlevania themed DLC on October 31st titled Ode to Castlevania – It will be available on all platform that the base game is available for €3.99.
    • Remember The Day Before? The game that lasted 4 days on Steam after players found that the game was a scam and was an asset flip? Well, the studio Fantastic launched a Kickstarter on September 26th for a new upcoming game calledEscape Factory. They were hoping to raise S$20K for the project. The Kickstarter was ended earlier today as the project didn’t “generate enough interest”.
    • But wait, there is more! In the same announcement that Fantastic stopped their Kickstarter for Escape Factory, they have started development for an entirely new game titled: Items which is an ‘action-horror prop hunt’ game. But the company has already released (and delisted) an ‘action-horror prop hunt’ game that was released in 2021, Propnight
    • The Fallout: London mod has hit 1 million downloads.

    • The release date of Alan Wake 2‘s DLC ‘The Lake House’ has been leaked. It is set to be released next Tuesday (22nd October) alongside the physical edition of the game.
    • Riot Games is cutting 32 employees, with 27 being from its League of Legends team and 5 from publishing. This is in addition to the 530 jobs that were cut in January.
    • Mark Rubin is working on a recovery plan for XDefiant and has admitted that there are no plans to shut down the game after Season 4. There were meetings last year regarding their Year 2 plans.
    • Nobuo Uematsu has stated that Fantasian Neo Dimension is his final game project as a composer but has emphasized that he is not retiring. He is going to be cutting back on the video game music work so he works on other music that he wants to make. He will continue working on jobs for one theme song (Like he did with ‘Dragonsong’ the theme for Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward)
    • Activision has released the PC specs requirements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 which is out next Friday. Preloading will begin on Monday at 5pm. Game Pass players, the game will launch between 12pm on Thursday and 7am on Friday. Steam and Battle.net will have to wait until 5am on Friday.
    • Xbox has announced the following games are coming to Xbox Game Pass.
      • South Park: The Fractured but Whole – Console, Cloud and PC – Released today (October 16th) for Ultimate/PC/Standard Game Pass.
      • Donut Country – Console, Cloud and PC – October 17th for Ultimate/PC/Standard.
      • MechWarrior 5: Clans – Series X|S, Cloud and PC – October 17th for Ultimate/PC.
      • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – Console, Cloud and PC – October 25th for Ultimate/PC.

    • Bioware has released the PC specs for Dragon Age: The Veilguard and has confirmed that there is no 3rd party DRM (Such as Denuvo)
    • Sony is going to be holding PlayStation: The Concert in over 200 cities in the next 2 years. The show will feature performances of music originally composed by Gustavo Santaolalla (The Last of Us), Joris De Man (Horizon), Ilan Eshkeri (Ghost of Tsushima), Bear McCreary (God of War) and more. The first show will be in Dublin’s 3Arena on April 19th 2025. Tickets are on sale now.
    • It Takes Two has sold over 20 million units.
    • Resident Evil 4 remake has sold over 8 million units.
    • Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has sold over 3 million copies within the first 24 hours.
    • Hades II is getting its first major update in a free update today ‘The Olympic Update’ – Trailer – They have also added native support for Mac’s with Apple Silicion.
    • The source code for Rogue Legacy 1 has been made available for free – Github
    • Bandai Namco has cancelled or paused development of several games including an upcoming Naruto and One Piece game. It is not known how many jobs are at risk.

    • Davide Soliani, the director of the Mario + Rabbids franchise has launched a new studio called “Day 4 Night” which also include Christian Cantamessa (Red Dead Redemption) and other members of Ubisoft Milan, Cristina Nava, Gian Marco Zanna and Luca Breda. Cristina left Ubisoft after the release of Star Wars Outlaws
    • Horizon Zero Dawn has been delisted from Epic Games Store ahead of the release of the Remastered version, which release on October 31st.
    • Depending on the perspective that you play, would depend on how difficult Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be. If you opt for the new “third-person visual perspective”, it will be easier compared to the original “fixed perspective”
    • James Allard, the co-founder of the Xbox, has joined Amazon as a VP of its devices and services team. After leaving Microsoft, he created “Project 529”. A service to prevent bike thefts and advocating for cycling.
    • Riot Games is currently working on transitioning VALORANT to Unreal Engine 5 and that there would be new “playable experiences” coming to the VALORANT universe.
    • The CEO of Level-5 was convinced by Nintendo to make another Professor Layton game after the series came a conclusion. Professor Layton and the New World of Steam was announced back in February 2023 and is set to come out in 2025.
    • Krafton (PUBG Studios (PUBG: Battlegrounds) and Striking Distance (The Callisto Protocol)) has signed a licensing deal to bring Palworld to mobile.
    • Microsoft is discontinuing the HoloLens MR headsets
    • Square Enix is looking to bring Final Fantasy XVI (16) to Xbox consoles, but the director Naoki Yoshida couldn’t share anything specific about the release.
    • Shutaro Ida (Designer for Castlevania and Bloodstained) has stepped down from the development of Bloodstained 2 as he was diagnosed with cancer.
    • Tango Gameworks was already 6-months into developing Hi-Fi Rush 2 before Krafton and Tango met. They say that the game is currently on hold until Microsoft has transferred all the related assets to Tango’s new owner.

    • A co-op mode for Assassin’s Creed Shadows in currently in development.
    • Fallout TV show has become the 2nd show on Amazon Prime Video to have been watched by 100 Million viewers. The only other show to do this was Season 1 of Rings of Power
    • The new season of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has been played by less than 300 people on Steam.
    • Epic Games is now “financially sound” after their mass lay-offs, which saw 830 people leave the company.
