With the rise of the short-form video sharing service, Tik Tok, (formally known as Musical.ly), it has allowed users to lipsync themselves with audio clips such as music pieces and audio recordings of people talking.
There has been also exposure of edited songs such as ‘bad guy but with a twist’ where they edit Billie Eilish’s ‘bad guy’ with a soundclip from Spongebob Squarepants.
One thing that TikTok has also exposed is indie artists with their lyrics being dubbed or acted out by users of the app.
A song called “Flamingo” from British/Japanese star “Kero Kero Bonito” was made famous to highlight that no matter what colour you are, you are ‘pretty cool’.
