“What does it take to get recognised around here?”

That is something I have just asked people on Twitter. And it’s related to nologam.

Ever since I launched nologam back in January, just like Gamers and Geeks, it has become a failure…with just over 10 members registered and 2 active members, it seems like a lost cause already.

And this got me thinking, “How can you make something that is already big and over-saturated, known”…As in “How can nologam become part of the “big communities list” along with sites such as Boards and Facepunch.

Granted, there is 2 pretty huge sites and at the rate that members are singing up, we are never in this lifetime ever going to hit that member numbers that those have.

And what I have found out is, you and your site has to be…unique. You have to stand out from the crowd and do something different in order to get recognised. Look at Facebook, Look at Twitter, Look at boards and look at Facepunch.

They have all done something unique to become where they are today. And that is the dream that I have with nologam. I want to become as big as Boards and Facepunch. And I know that is never going to happen.

I have tried for 5 years to get Gamers and Geeks up off the ground and nothing. We haven’t got anywhere.

I don’t know what I am doing wrong, I don’t know if there is something which I am missing that is making me fail.

What I do know is, that if I keep posting on nologam on my own, every forum category and thread will have my name in it and that will look bad to every guest that would come onto the forum.

So, what action do I take? Do I start placing ads everywhere or do I have to spam inboxes…At the moment, while I don’t like either…It’s something that I might have to consider.
