    Change Post Author in Ghost

    When I moved this website from WordPress to Ghost earlier this year, I used their tool to import the posts in.

    What it did, it created a 2nd user and associated the posts with that user while keeping the Ghost author (The main one that I would use) as a separate user. I didn’t want this, so I decided to tinker with the SQLite database and change that.

    Note: If you decide to follow my instructions, I am not responsible for any data loss or breakages to your site, ok? Good! 🙂

    Just for a bit of context, I am using Ghost on Docker via Plesk, (click here for instructions on how to set that up).

    To get into the terminal for your docker instance, run docker ps first and get the name of your docker container and then run docker exec -t -i container_name bash (replacing container_name with your own)

    You will need to ensure that you have sqlite3 installed. On Debian/Ubuntu, you can do this by running apt update && apt install -y sqlite3.

    • BACK UP YOUR DATABASE. This should be obvious. Back up your databases before messing with it.

      * Navigate to /var/lib/ghost/content/data and run cp ghost.db ghostdb-backup2021-10-11

    • While in /var/lib/ghost/content/data run sqlite3 ghost.db
    • You will need to first find out the author_id of your users, to do this, run the command SELECT id, name, slug FROM users;

    This will return the following:

    1|Padraig Fahy|padraig8df7s89f7sd98f7sd|Ghost|ghost7vc89x675x6c78x9c|Padraig Fahy|padraig-2(Note: The id's are different for every instance and are randomised here)

    From this, you might be able to determine which user is your WordPress user. But to be sure, go and view one of the posts that you would have created on the site and click on the link to the author, whether that would be a ‘See more from this author’ or similar link.

    Then check the URL in the address bar to see what the ‘slug’ is. For me, all my WordPress posts where imported as ‘padraig-2’

    So the ID for ‘padraig-2’ would be 7vc89x675x6c78x9c and now we want to change that to 1 so that it is the Ghost user ‘padraig’

    • UPDATE posts SET author_id = REPLACE(author_id,'7vc89x675x6c78x9c','1');
    • Press enter. Then run:
    • UPDATE posts_authors SET author_id = REPLACE(author_id,'7vc89x675x6c78x9c','1');
    • And press enter again.

    This will update the posts themselves to be the correct user and then update the ‘authors’ page to point it to the correct user.

    When you try to go to the WordPress author page, it should return ‘0 Results’

    You can verify your work by going to your proper author page https://padraig.blog/author/padraig/ and seeing your posts.

    Repeat the process for the different authors if you have them.

    Exit sqlite3 by running .quit and pressing enter.

    [Podcast] #1 Let me enjoy Professional Wrestling

    I want to preface this by stating that this is in response to this tweet by AEW Owner, Tony Khan.

    I like Professional Wrestling and I want be able to do so without the constant Anti-WWE bickering from AEW. It’s childish. He and the rest of the AEW should stop.

    (By the way, I don’t plan to have any schedule for any podcasts as this was just very off the cuff and very last minute. And I needed to upload the episode somewhere)

  • New World

    New World

    Back on Tuesday, Amazon Games launched its new MMO, New World to the public.

    The game was met with a lot of negative reviews on social media and even a review-bomb on Steam (Which seems to be fixing itself at time of writing) due to the server capacity and lack of servers in general.

    Amazon did address this by adding well over 100+ servers for the game. A updating thread on their forum shows that they are working on adding new servers.

    I was very reluctant in getting New World. I thought there was glaring issues with the combat and questing and a sense of questioning as to what is to be done at End Game.

    I even tweeted out that I was going to give it a miss for a ‘year or two’

    Try, a day or two. This evening, I bought New World. 😅

    I started a character this evening on one of the newest EU servers, Ursa Dry Tree (Server merged back in February 2022).

    My character, Crakila, on Ursa server in New World

    I don’t know how much of this game I am going to play considering that my main game, Final Fantasy XIV, has it’s expansion releasing this November, so New World is filling that void in the meantime.

    I will not be giving a detailed review of the game, but I figure an update as to how I get on and how I enjoy the game, may come in the future.

    Fix Windows Security on Windows 11 Beta

    In the Windows 11 Beta, I experienced an issue with Windows Security (fka. Windows Defender) not working.

    The shield would appear in the system tray but clicking on it or opening Windows Security from the Start menu wouldn’t do anything.

    To fix this, open Powershell as Admin and copy paste the following:

    Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

    Once you do that, you can go to: Start -> Settings >> Privacy & Security and click on “Open Windows Security” or type “Windows Security” into the Start Menu.

    [The Jukebox] #66 – Kazuhiro Hara – real Emotion

    Every few months on YouTube, I am recommended music which I listened to years ago. One of those songs, I am featuring today.

    real Emotion‘ is the opening song for the 2003 Playstation 2 title, Final Fantasy X-2. It’s composed by Kazuhiro Hara and arranged by ‘h-wonder

    The song’s English vocalist is Jade Villalon. Villalon is a member of the German pop group Sweetbox who has had success in Japan and Korea. She also sang the English version of 1000 Words also used in Final Fantasy X-2. Villalon left the group in 2007 before rejoining in 2020 and releasing a new album.

    The Japanese version of the song was sung by Kumi Koda. Koda is a solo singer in Japan who gained fame from real Emotion and 1000 Words and has been releasing new music since her breakthrough. Koda also voiced Lenne in the Japanese version of the game.

    Outside of the game, Kumi released her 6th album in December 2020 called “Angel + Monster” which was recorded in her home studio during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

    There has only been 1 version of the English dub of the song released, It’s credited as being sung by: “Jade from sweetbox” – No full names here.

    The Japanese dub, sung by Koda however, had 2 versions:

    The first being the OST version:

    And then an official music video featuring Kumi Koda. The dance was motion captured and used for when “the singer” performs the song at the start of the game. The song got to number 3 on the Oricon singles charts making it Koda’s first song in the Top 10. The song was ranked the 24th best single of 2003 in Oricon’s Top 100 Singles.

  • [The Jukebox] #65 – Masayoshi Soken – A Long Fall

    [The Jukebox] #65 – Masayoshi Soken – A Long Fall

    Earlier this week, Square-Enix finally released the Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers OST onto streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.

    This gives me the perfect excuse to highlight one of the biggest memes in Final Fantasy XIV in the last couple of years: A Long Fall.

    ‘A Long Fall’ is the accompanying score to the Level 80 dungeon, “The Twinning”. The song is a remix of two older themes, “Out of the Labyrinth” (From the Syrcus Tower raid in Patch 2.3) and “eScape” (From the Omega raid in Patch 4.4)

    Omega theme

    The lyrics for eScape were sung by the composer for Final Fantasy XIV, Masayoshi Soken and the lead English translator, Co-lead of the World and Lore Developer, Michael-Christopher Koji Fox.

    When Shadowbringers was released in July 2019, ‘The Twinning’ was one of the dungeons that was included with the initial patch which contained the very catchy tune.

    A Long Fall

    The song became an underrated masterpiece and considered one of Soken’s best works (Of which there are many)

    On August 27th 2019, YouTube user kcat729 uploaded a video titled ‘twinning.mp4’ which contained the song but super imposed with 4 copies of John Jacobson from the Double Dream Feet video from 2011.

    twinning.mp4
    Double Dream Feet from John Jacobson

    Word about twinning.mp4 made its way around the various websites such as Twitter, Reddit, the Final Fantasy XIV Official Forums and eventually the developers of the game.

    At the Final Fantasy Fan Festival 2021 (Which took place in a closed theatre in Japan due to COVID-19), Square-Enix held a concert at the end of Night 2 of their event featuring their in-house band “The PRIMALS” which is comprised of the aforementioned Soken, Koji Fox and 3 other band members.

    They traditionally cover in-game music made by Soken in a more heavy-metal direction but in recent times, their music has created for the game.

    During their performance, they had community team members recreate the dance from the twinning.mp4 meme video.

    You can see that the team members are wearing red, blue and green shirts. This is to depict the ‘roles’ that you can play in Final Fantasy XIV. Red for Damage Dealers (DPS), Green for Healers and Blue for Tanks.

    To promote the upcoming album “FINAL FANTASY XIV: Scions & Sinners”, The Primals created a music video for A Long Fall which shows the members performing the song while Koji Fox is dressed up as a Ascian (whom are the antagonists in Final Fantasy XIV) performing the Double Dream Feet dance and also some in-game dances such as the ‘Manderville’ and the ‘Ball Dance’

    You can tell that throughout the official music video and the video from the Fan Fest that they really enjoyed performing this song. Hopefully at the next Final Fantasy Fan Festival in 2023, we’ll be able to hear the song in person.

    The official soundtrack for Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is now available on Spotify and Apple Music.
