  • Login Looping Xubuntu 15.10

    Since last night, I have had a issue where I couldn’t boot into my Linux laptop which was running Xubuntu 15.10 due to a login loop where it was stuck as “[  OK  ] Started ACPI Event Daemon”

    I eventually found the fix which did resolve the issue for me.

    1. Make sure /var/lib/lightdm has been created.
      1. Also, make sure that is owned by lightdm:lightdm and have CHMOD 0750 permissions.
    2. At ~/ , do a ls -lah and check both .Xauthority and .ICEauthority and make sure they are owned by you. eg. chown padraig:padraig
    3. Throw a sudo reboot at it and then you should be able to boot into your Xubuntu system.

    This fix could (And would) probably work for other *buntu distros (Or even Debian distros in some cases)

    I hope this helps someone!

  • My Predictions for Survivor Series 2015

    Survivor Series is on this Sunday (22nd November 2015) and here is my predictions for the upcoming fights.

    (c) denotes that they are the title holder!

    Winner is in BOLD!

     

    2 Semi-Final Matches for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
    Kevin Owens (IC Champion) vs Dean Ambrose – Dean Ambrose to proceed to the final.
    Roman Reigns vs Alberto Del Rio (US Champion) – Roman Reigns to proceed to the final.

    WWE Diva’s Champion Match
    Charlotte (c) vs Paige – Charlotte to retain to continue the fued in the

    WWE Bullshit Match
    Dolph Ziggler vs Tyler Breeze – Zzzzz. Dolph to wipe the floor.

    The Brothers of Destruction (Kane & The Undertaker) vs The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan & Braun Strowman) – BoD to win since this may be one of The Undertaker’s last matches in his WWE Career.

    WWE World Heavyweight Championship
    (Title was vacated after Seth Rollings damaged his knee at a House Show in Dublin, Ireland on the 4th November 2015)
    Dean Ambrose vs Roman Reigns – Roman to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Roman won, but Sheamus cashed in MITB and became WHC.

    I thought long and hard about the WHC, but I think that it has been nearly a year+ since the WWE were trying to push Roman back into the WHC spotlight after the title being claimed by Seth who cashed in his Money in the Bank Contact at Wrestlemania 31. His recent ‘Number 1 contender’ match was going to start a fued with Seth and that he would take the title, not at Survivor Series, but at a Ladder match at TLC. Now that Seth it out, it would seem that they can give a longer reign to Reigns (no pun intended there) and he will probably lose it to John Cena at WM32 because ‘LOL CENA WINS’ (Can he trade that in and get the Spinner back 😛 )

    That is my predictions for Survivor Series this year. I will be hanging out in the Taima stream for /r/SquaredCircle so you can catch me in there. 🙂
