Gaming News for Friday 1st March 2024

  • Radical Forge, the co-developer for Sea of Thieves, Gang Beasts and Zombie Army 4 has confirmed lay-offs within the company. It is no known how many people have been made unemployed as a result.
  • While the new Twisted Metal has to be cancelled, the unannounced Horizon multiplayer game has not been cancelled.
  • Crash Team Rumble will not be getting any updates after next week.
  • Toys For Bob’s, the Crash Team Rumble developer announced that they will be spinning out of Activision and will be working on new IP’s. They will no longer work on Crash Bandicoot or Spyro games.
  • Randy Pitchford informed his staff at Gearbox Software (Borderlands) that a decision has been made about the future of the company. According to reports, they will be leaving the Embracer Group and being sold to another company.
  • Staying with Embracer Group, they are reportedly selling Saber Interactive for $500 million, including the rights for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. It is said that the company which has 3500 employees could be sold to a Private Investor.
  • Aerial Knight’s Never Yield is this week’s Epic Games free game. Next week is a new game, Wild Rooster’s Astro Duel 2.
  • Biomutant will release on the Switch on May 14th. When it releases, it will include all the DLC.
  • The Pokémon Company has confirmed that the new Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket will not feature NFT’s
  • As part of the lay-offs at Electronic Arts, they are closing the Battlefield single-player studio Ridgeline Games and have cancelled Star Wars‘s first-person shooter that was in development by Respawn (Titanfall, Apex Legends)
  • Hoverboards aka. Skimmer’s are coming to Destiny 2 on Tuesday.
